Bouncing Bulldogs is a Chapel Hill-Durham, North Carolina based not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing jump rope instruction and experiences to jump rope enthusiasts around the world. The Bouncing Bulldogs have been a model for producing youth ambassadors who are passionate about jump rope, physical activity, civic engagement and education for over two decades.
The Bouncing Bulldogs Jump Rope Team is comprised of 110 boys and girls from the Research Triangle Park (RTP) area of North Carolina, ranging in age from 5 to 26. The team is based in Chapel Hill and Durham, North Carolina. Team members can teach and perform hundreds of synchronized skills, maneuvers, and dances using a combination of single and double dutch ropes. Their innovative jumping style includes fancy footwork, flips, and other acrobatic skills with ropes of various lengths.
Each year, the team teaches and performs worldwide in front of thousands of spectators, including sports fans, health and fitness professionals, corporate employees, students, educators and the general public. Bouncing Bulldogs team members have taught and performed in Australia, Belgium, Bermuda, Canada, Cayman Islands, China, Denmark, England, France, Germany, India, Israel, Japan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Sweden, the Virgin Islands, and many of the states within the United States of America. In 2008, team members taught and performed in China, during the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in and around the city of Beijing. The team also provided entertainment at the 2008 US Open Finals Weekend in Flushing, NY.
The team has won more than 200 national championship awards in both single and double dutch events and has 18 world champions. In June 2010, at the USA Jump Rope National Age Division Championship, held in Galveston, Texas, the Bouncing Bulldogs earned the National Champion Team Title for the 7th straight year. In July 2011, while competing at the World Jump Rope Championships in the nation’s capital, the Bouncing Bulldogs won gold in the Team Show Small Group Junior Division and won silver in the Silver Division.
