This time of the year, you can feel the constant energy buzzing around the Bouncing Bulldogs gym as the team continues to train for the exciting event held at the Apollo Theater.  Team members have dedicated their time to training for speed and fusion so that they are prepared to compete against the best in the world at this famous competition.  At practice, speed scores are beginning to increase, fusion routines are coming together with that “X-factor” and team chemistry is at an all-time high.  Although only some of our jumpers will be competing at the Apollo this year, all jumpers are in the gym training hard and supporting each other.  We strive to keep up this energy and excitement as we continue our training.

As the Bouncing Bulldogs are in the middle of their intense training for competition, we would like to take a moment to give thanks to a few groups for all of the hard work that they do for our program:

First of all, thank you to all of the parents who continue to support the program and dedicate their time to help out whenever needed.   Next, thank you to the older jumpers (i.e. alumni) that have been through the program for coming back and helping out whenever you can.  Also, thank you to all of the new families for joining the program; we sincerely hope that you have enjoyed (and will continue to enjoy) your time on the team.  Thank you to all team members who continually push each other to be the best they can be.  Last, but definitely not least, thank you to Coach and Mrs. Fredrick for your dedication and passion for the sport of jump rope and of course, The Bouncing Bulldogs, for the past 28 years.  This team would not be where it is without you! This program is truly about teamwork and we could not continue without the support of every single person and group involved so we thank everyone!

The Bulldogs wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving and we look forward to seeing everyone after the holiday!

The magenta and silver weekend to remember

To say that our 25th Annual Rope Skipping Workshop was a success is an understatement. Thanks to the hardworking and dedicated family and friends that helped to organize and keep the weekend running smoothly, the Bulldogs skipped through workshop weekend with smiles. From our international guests’ arrival on Wednesday, to their departure the following Tuesday, team members made memories that will last a lifetime.

On the days leading up to Halloween, the workshop staff from around the country and world treated ten schools to previews of the routines they would be performing the next day at the Carolina Theater. Each demonstration was better than the previous, and the staff concluded their performances Friday pumped for the workshop ahead of them.

The morning of the workshop, over three hundred kids filled East Chapel Hill High School eager to learn new rope jumping skills. It was great to see so many new faces from the community that arrived to participate and to step into the world of jump rope for the first time. Looking around, all of the participants and staff were working hard together to push themselves and the sport to its full potential.

Concluding the weekend, of course, was the legendary performance at the historic Carolina Theater in downtown Durham. This was the first jump rope performance of this scale in a theater venue, and over eight hundred spectators attended. Just as the rest of the weekend, it was a phenomenal performance. Again, thanks to all volunteers that helped to arrange logistics of traveling from East Chapel Hill High School, to the BBQ dinner served at the Armory, to seating at Carolina Theater, and the support of all family and friends who watched the Bulldogs and international staff performers.

The 25th Annual Rope Skipping Workshop was an absolute success as a result of the hard work put into it by the Bouncing Bulldog team members, and all supporters of the team. We could not have done it without you, and cannot wait for the 26th Annual Workshop next year!
